OVERVIEW

Wellbeing Assisted Living is an assisted living facility serving Korean-speaking seniors in the DMV area, offering daily care support in a culturally familiar and language-accessible environment. As one of the few providers in the region focused specifically on this community, the organization plays an important role in addressing a significant gap in culturally aligned senior care.

The client’s goal for this project was to establish a strong and trustworthy brand presence while designing a website that clearly communicates their services, amenities, and overall care experience. This included developing a cohesive visual identity, building a website from the ground up, and ensuring all content was accessible and easy to understand for Korean-speaking seniors and their families. The objective was to increase awareness, build credibility, and make it easier for families to discover and consider Wellbeing Assisted Living as a care option.

As the UX/UI Designer, I led the end-to-end design process, including information architecture, user flows, high-fidelity UI design, and the creation of a scalable design system. Leveraging my background in graphic design, I also developed the logo and brand guidelines to establish a cohesive visual identity. I focused on creating an accessible, culturally sensitive experience through clear navigation, simplified content structure, and thoughtful design decisions tailored to the target audience. I collaborated closely with the client throughout the entire process to ensure the final website aligned with both user needs and business goals.

The Challenge.

The Challenge.

Wellbeing Assisted Living is one of the few assisted living facilities in the DMV area that serves Korean-speaking seniors, a group with very limited culturally and linguistically aligned care options. However, despite this unique advantage, the facility has low visibility within its target community due to a lack of a strong online presence. This makes it difficult for Korean-speaking seniors and their families to discover, understand, and evaluate Wellbeing Assisted Living, resulting in missed opportunities to communicate its services, amenities, and value.

How might we design a clear, culturally accessible website that effectively communicates Wellbeing Assisted Living’s services and amenities, helping Korean-speaking seniors and their families easily discover and confidently choose it as their home?

User Flow

User Flow

After several iterations, I developed an ideal user flow for new and returning users to browse Wellbeing Assisted Living and easily take next steps, such as making inquiries. Mapping both primary and alternate journeys helped me better understand user behavior and determine the wireframes needed to support a clear and intuitive experience.

Wireframing.

Wireframing.

I developed low-fidelity wireframes for the Wellbeing Assisted Living website to define a clear, easy-to-follow structure tailored to Korean-speaking seniors and their families. I established a consistent page framework that could support key sections like services, amenities, and care information while keeping the experience flexible and scalable.

These early layouts helped clarify how content should be organized to improve readability and accessibility. I collaborated with stakeholders to refine each section so it clearly communicated value and aligned with both user needs and business objectives. The wireframes ultimately served as the blueprint for the final design, guiding the overall structure, flow, and user experience.

Brand & Visual Identity

Brand & Visual Identity

Wellbeing Assisted Living required a new logo and cohesive brand system for their website, so I designed a visual identity that reflects the values of wellness, happiness, and prosperity. I used natural elements like trees and organic forms to symbolize growth, care, and a nurturing environment.

After establishing the brand identity, I extended it into a consistent design system for the website. I ensured the color palette met web accessibility standards for users with visual impairments and that typography was legible and appropriately scaled throughout the experience, creating a more inclusive and user-friendly interface.

I translated the approved wireframes for Wellbeing Assisted Living into high-fidelity designs, focusing on a clear, approachable, and reassuring experience for users exploring care options.

I developed a scalable design system with consistent typography, color, and components, and incorporated real imagery to authentically reflect the sense of community and care. Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with the client to ensure the final designs aligned with their goals and needs.

Prototyping + Testing.

I translated the high-fidelity designs for the Wellbeing Assisted Living website into interactive prototypes that demonstrated how Korean-speaking seniors and their families would navigate key information like services, amenities, and care details. I conducted usability reviews with the client and our target audience to evaluate clarity, accessibility, and ease of navigation, then refined the experience based on their feedback. These iterations helped ensure the final website felt simple, supportive, and easy to navigate for the target audience.
